The article examines the factors of the formation of the "national" in the Soviet architecture of Central Asia in 1955-1991 on the example of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The features of the development of the architectural and construction practice of the USSR in the aspect of the transformation of the international language of modernist architecture under the "national traditions" of the republics are studied. The complex, non-linear nature of the appeal of Soviet architects to the traditions of national architecture is described. A new approach is introduced into the scientific research discourse to fix the specifics of the "national" in the Soviet architecture of Central Asia, which helps to determine the artistic value of a particular structure.
