BISAC ART ART
Modern Japanese artistic culture invariably arouses the interest of both professional art critics and ordinary viewers. Successfully combining the features of traditional art, while following the vector of development of modern styles and trends, Japanese art retains its original principles, continuing to determine the trends of the world stage. The artist Yayoi Kusama is a prime example of such a successful combination of tradition and contemporary art movements, and therefore an analysis of her work may help to understand why such a combination is generally so successful on the basis of Japanese art. Based on the analysis of the artist's creative path and some of her most representative works, we can identify the following main features of her work: 1. Change in perception and scale; 2. Repetitive motifs; 3. "Self-destruction" and the search for identity; 4. Synthesis of artistic directions. It is also worth noting that despite the influence of American art, the artist retains in her works the specifics of the Japanese mentality, carefully reworking everything that came into her art from outside.
