ABSTRACT

The article is dedicated to the legacy of the outstanding Krasnoyarsk architect Leonid Aleksandrovich Chernyshev, who largely shaped the appearance of the historical part of the city and created some of its most recognizable buildings. The article examines the building of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum of Local History (the building of the city museum), built in 1914-1930. As the first attempt at working in the mainstream of Art Nouveau-Oriental by L. A. Chernyshev, the pavilion of Siberian Studies ("General Scientific") at the First West Siberian Agricultural, Forestry and Trade and Industrial Exhibition in Omsk in 1911 is indicated and considered. The building of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum of Local History is analyzed in the article from the position of using and rethinking the traditions of Ancient Egyptian architecture in this monument of Siberian Art Nouveau. The study shows that L. A. Chernyshev's project is based on the principle of synthesis of different time traditions, which allows creating a recognizable, but generalized image of an ancient Egyptian temple on the banks of the Yenisei. The study concerns both the architectural form and the monumental and decorative design of the structure. The article presents the formal features, principles of formation of the architectural volume and characteristic elements of ancient Egyptian architecture present in the building of the city museum. It also examines in what and to what extent these features can be observed being reworked. The author names the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut in Deir el-Bahri and the temple of Khonsu in Karnak as prototypes of individual volumes of the structure, or more precisely, the pylon structure as a form of entrance space.
