The article provides a review of foreign and Russian research literature on the work of the contemporary South African artist W. Kentridge. It was discovered that quite a lot of monographs and research articles about the work of this artist have been written in foreign research literature - the article identifies in more detail the main theses of the monograph on the work of W. Kentridge by three authors Cameron D., Christov-Bakargiev K. and Coetzee J. M., reprinted many times since 1999. In the Russian research literature, there are practically no articles about the work of W. Kentridge; mainly, the artist’s work is briefly discussed in journalistic articles. It is concluded that the study of W. Kentridge’s work is a promising topic for research. The animated film “Felix in Exile” from 1994 is considered as a representative of his work.
